The cup holders Toyota never gave you
If you drive an older Toyota, you know the drill. In a 96 Surf the only cup holders pop out of the dash, and after 20-odd years they're beaten up, rattly and barely hold a can. Earlier models don't have any at all. And there's nowhere decent to rest your arm.
This set fixes both. It sits on top of each door card, with a deep cup holder right by your hand and a padded rest for your arm. Once it's in, driving without it feels wrong.
- A cup holder that holds: deep and snug around a coffee cup, can or bottle, so it stays put over corrugations and potholes. It's also out of the way of your dash and screen.
- Somewhere for your arm: a soft, padded rest at the right height for long drives.
- Fits in about ten minutes: no drilling or cutting, and only basic tools. It wedges into the window sill on an adjustable plate. Set the width with a 10mm spanner, tighten it, done.
- Colours to match your interior: Grey, Oak or Black, to suit factory Toyota trim.
- Sold as a pair: one for the driver's door, one for the passenger's.

Why it fits your truck
It started life as a 70 Series Land Cruiser part. The stock bracket didn't adjust far enough for the 3rd Gen Surf, so we had custom brackets made. That's what lets it fit Surfs and 4Runners from 1984 to 2002, plus 1st Gen Tacomas, Sequoias and Tundras, older Hilux and 60, 70 and 80 Series Land Cruisers.

A straight note on fitment
Door cards vary between generations, trims and even sides of the same truck. On most it sits flush. On some you'll see a small gap along the curve, and the passenger side can sit a little differently to the driver's. Nine times out of ten that's the plate needing more extension, so email us and we'll walk you through it.
Frequently asked questions
Will the cup holder armrest fit my 3rd gen Hilux Surf or 4Runner?
Yes. The armrests were originally designed for Land Cruisers, but our custom adjustable mounting plate fits the 3rd Gen Hilux Surf and 4Runner (KZN185 / VZN185, 1996 to 2002). It also fits 1st and 2nd Gen Surf and 4Runner models, though 1st Gen vehicles may need minor trimming of the door card.
Will there be a gap between the armrest and my door card?
On most vehicles it sits flush. Because door cards vary by generation and trim, some rigs will show a small gap along the curve of the door, and the two sides can sit slightly differently. Extending the mounting plate to its full width before you fit it solves most of these. If yours still isn't sitting right, email us and we'll help you set it.
Does the cup holder armrest require drilling to install?
No drilling, screws or modifications, and only basic tools: a 10mm spanner or socket to set the mounting plate. The armrest wedges into the window sill, held by the adjustable plate, grippy rubber feet and the door card lip. Allow about ten minutes for both sides using the step-by-step guide.
Will the cup holder armrest fit a 4th gen Surf or 4Runner?
No. The 4th Gen Hilux Surf and 4Runner (2003 to 2009) use a different door card profile and the wedge-fit does not hold reliably on that model.
Will it fit a 2nd Gen Tacoma?
No. It fits the 1st Gen Tacoma (1995 to 2004) only.
Do I need to buy two for both doors?
No. The set is sold as a pair, so you get one for the driver's door and one for the passenger's in a single order.
What colours does the cup holder armrest come in?
Three colours to match factory Toyota interiors: Grey, Oak (light brown) and Black. Pick the one that matches your dash trim.

Pretty sweet to have a cup holder that doesn’t block my Apple play screen! Also I put the AC cold enough then it cools my drink also. Perfect for rolling down the windows to enjoy the breeze and resting your arm perfectly on the cushion.

Awesome, well built cup holder armrest. I drive an ‘89 1st gen 4Runner (zero stock cup holders), and this is a massive upgrade to an excellent vehicle. I made some minor cuts with a dremmel, added a couple washers behind the magnets (a Philips screw holds them in, easy to back out and reinstall) and achieved a great fit that’s flush to the interior door curvature. The plastic is thick enough that there was no risk of cracking, and the padding for my arm makes long drives feel luxurious. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to enhance their beater.

Great cushion, great cupholder but magnets didn’t work on my 03 tundra. Fits on the window rails but is not secure to the panel. Still use it all the time.

1996 4runner Limited. This was mildly disappointing. The fitment is not even close to tight. Installing according to the instructions leaves even bigger gaps than pictured. I managed to make the fitment better (as pictured) by removing the door panels, pulling back the window seal, and slipping the armrest bracket lip underneath. Still you can see that the armrest does not make good contact. The passenger side is so off that only one of the self sticking metal pieces can adhere to the door panel. The poor fitment shows a lack of R&D or QC. Instructions need to be updated to reflect this, and development or QC needs to be improved before this can be considered a decent product. That being said, the armrest is comfy and its nice to have a cup holder. For $180 USD it could be a better value. Edit: I was contacted by a Surf rep who apologized and explained that this was a product intended for another model that was adapted for a wider variety later on without changing the design. That explained the fitment issues. I was told that now the instructions have been updated to reflect a more accurate install. One positive to point to is that this is a company that is open to change and improvement with proper feedback.

However the fit is not perfect but with some velcro they are snug and will not slide around, only critisism is that there could be more adjustment to allow for the width of the door card to ensure a firmer fit. They are far better than my cup holder in the center dash :-)

The only thing that i think would be helpful is if those little pads underneath where adhesive so that if you accidentally bump it, your drink doesn't go flying everywhere, "i speak from very little experience " lol

Magnets dont fit the contour of the door card, even if they did the stickyness on the backside is pathetic, the unit scratches the plastic, rattles, sits to close to the headlight switch

These will work the 1 gen Tacoma has a rounded top on the door panels. With the door panels being rounded and plastic I had to utilize the metal discs supplied to get the magnet to hold. Unfortunately the discs don’t wrap around the rounded door panels so they become useless. The arm rests are great quality and work well. I will try some double sided tape to get the rests mounted permanently. I would purchase these again, definitely make a more comfortable ride.
