Tidy Up Tired Factory Mirrors — Without a Respray

Bring your 3rd Gen Surf's sun-faded wing mirrors back to looking sharp.

If your Hilux Surf or 4Runner is wearing 20-plus years of Kiwi sun, the factory mirror caps are often the first thing to go chalky and grey. These covers slip straight over the existing housings and give the front of your truck a clean, finished look again — no painter, no panel shop, no drama.

They're a cosmetic tidy-up rather than a structural part: the mirror glass and adjusters stay exactly as they are, and the covers simply dress the outer shell.

Choose your finish:

• Gloss Black — a clean gloss finish that suits blacked-out and factory-look builds alike (99 - 02 fitment).
• Carbon — a carbon-fibre-style textured finish for a sportier front end (99 - 02 fitment; a carbon-look ABS moulding, not real carbon fibre).
• Chrome — a bright, classic chrome look for a tidy or show-style build, available for both 96 - 98 and 99 - 02.

Pick the finish you want, then the year option that matches your truck — the mirror housing changed slightly across the 3rd Gen run.

What you're getting, and why it works:

• Paste-on fit, 3M tape included: the covers come with 3M automotive tape and attach over your existing mirror housings — no drilling and no pulling the mirror apart. Most owners have both sides done in under an hour.
• Moulded for the 3rd Gen housing: shaped for the Hilux Surf / 4Runner mirror so the edges sit flush instead of looking like a generic add-on.
• Weather-ready: durable, rust-free, and holds its finish far better than the faded cap it's covering.
• Matched pair: left and right covers both in the box, so the two sides match from day one.

Fitting tip

Clean and dry the mirror housing first, then fit the covers using the included 3M tape and press firmly into place. For a really secure, long-term hold — especially on a truck that sees plenty of open road or regular washes — we also recommend running a little automotive adhesive (glue) around the contact points. Glue isn't included.

Frequently asked questions

Will these fit my Surf?

They're moulded for the 3rd Gen Hilux Surf / 4Runner (1996–2002). Gloss Black and Carbon suit the 99 - 02 mirror; Chrome is available for both 96 - 98 and 99 - 02. They won't fit 1st, 2nd or 4th Gen mirrors — if you're not sure which generation you've got, flick us a message before ordering.

What finishes are available?

Three: Gloss Black, Carbon (a carbon-fibre-style look) and Chrome. The Carbon and Chrome options are finishes over an ABS moulding — not solid carbon fibre or solid chrome metal.

How do they attach?

They fit over your existing mirror housing using the included 3M tape — no tools or wiring needed. Clean the surface, test-fit, then press them on. For a more permanent hold we suggest adding some automotive glue (not included) as well.

Do I lose any mirror function?

No. The covers only dress the outer shell — your mirror glass, folding and any electric adjustment keep working as normal.
