Will this 10-blade cooling fan fit my 1KZ-TE Hilux Surf?

Yes. The 10-blade fan is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory 7-blade fan on the 1KZ-TE engine, fitted in the KZN130 (2nd Gen, 1989-95) and KZN185 (3rd Gen, 1996-2002) Hilux Surf and 4Runner. It uses the existing viscous fan hub, so no modifications are needed.

Will the 10-blade fan fit a V6 5VZ-FE Surf?

No — the 5VZ-FE V6 uses a different fan hub design. This kit is engineered for the 1KZ-TE diesel and the related 2L, 3L and 5L diesel engines. For V6 owners, the Max-Cooling Upgrade Kit has a V6-specific configuration.

Do I need to change anything else when installing this fan?

You don't have to, but we strongly recommend refreshing the silicone oil inside your viscous fan hub at the same time. A worn hub won't lock up properly and the extra blades won't reach their full benefit. If your thermostat is older than 5 years or 100,000 km, replace it at the same time too.

How much cooler will my engine actually run?

Real-world reports from customers typically show a 4-6°C drop in coolant temperature on hot climbs and when towing, depending on the condition of the rest of your cooling system (radiator, hub, water pump). The biggest gains come when paired with a fresh viscous hub and OEM thermostat.

Is this a direct bolt-on or do I need to modify anything?

It's a direct bolt-on swap. Remove the four bolts holding your factory 7-blade fan to the viscous hub, fit the new 10-blade fan, and torque the bolts back up. Install time is typically 20-30 minutes with basic hand tools.

Car didn’t have any cooling issues before install I just wanted to do it as preventative maintenance. But with the new fan installed you can feel how much more air it’s sucking in when your in the engine bay with the car running. Can even feel the suction from the fan with your hand at the front of the ac condenser. Came next day as well. Will be buying more bits soon
