What's inside

The one belt that matters

Every 100,000 km (62,000 miles), no excuses. The 3L is an interference engine, and the belt job is cheap insurance. What to replace with it, and what it costs in NZ.

What actually wears out

The 3L doesn't share the 2L-TE's cracked-head curse. What gets it instead: neglected cooling, tired injectors and pump wear past 250,000 km (155,000 miles). The symptoms, and when to act.

Part numbers we trust

Genuine, OEM, aftermarket. The filters, glow plugs and belt kits that go the distance, and the ones we've stopped selling.

Honest dollar values

Real NZ costs for the belt and water pump job, valve clearance check, glow plug replacement, and the jobs you'll do at 200k, 300k and beyond.

A few quick answers

Is it really free?

Yes. No catch. Free PDF, delivered to your inbox in the next couple of minutes.

Why are you giving it away?

Because we sell parts for these trucks. We'd rather you keep yours on the road for another decade than have you get burned on a bad repair.

What's the 10% off code for?

Anything on surfsyndicate.co.nz that fits your 3L. Good for one year, one per customer.

Will you spam me?

No. Expect a handful of emails to help you look after the truck, then very occasional updates. Unsubscribe anytime.
